Locally owned by East Texas natives, Ascend is here to help our community move better, play better and live better. We specialize in orthopedics with a focus on sports medicine and athletic performance, but with over 30 years combined physical therapy experience, we offer an array of services to help all of your physical therapy needs.

Jonathan Tate, PT, DPT, FAAOMPT

Jonathan is a Doctor of Physical Therapy, Co-Owner of Ascend, and proud East Texas Native. He specializes in manual therapy, dry needling, IASTM, and he is Titleist Performance Institute Certified.

After earning his Doctorate of Physical Therapy from Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center (TTUHSC), Jonathan began his career with a 2.5 year manual therapy residency and fellowship at the Manual Therapy Institute in San Marcos. He was recognized as a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Manual Physical Therapists (FAAOMPT) in 2014 thus achieving the highest credentials in manual therapy recognized by the American Physical Therapy Association. He is also an active member of The American Academy of Orthopedic Manual Physical Therapists and American Physical Therapy Association.


Jonathan is married to Stephanie and for the past 14 years, they have enjoyed traveling, spending time at the lake and raising their three children, Saydee, Sawyer and Jett. Jonathan is an avid golfer, duck hunter and fly fisherman.

Jason Hunt, PT, MPT, OCS

Jason is a Physical Therapist, Board Certified Orthopedic Specialist, and East-Texas Native. As co-owner of Ascend, he is passionate about helping East Texans move, work and play better through an active exercise-based treatment approach, utilizing a variety of manual therapy techniques as needed.

Jason earned his Masters of Physical Therapy from Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center (TTUHSC), and has over 20 years of experience in outpatient orthopedic focused physical therapy in East Texas. He is trained in Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization as well as functional dry needling, and has extensive training of shoulder and upper quarter movement dysfunction through Evidence In Motion (EIM). Jason is passionate about shoulder rehab, and he has special interest in ACL injury prevention and rehab and other related sports injuries.

Jason is married to Kristi, and he enjoys spending time with their two children, Jack and Lauren. Jason also enjoys golfing, mountain biking, coffee, books, movies and is a bit of a basketball junkie.
